Real experiences from real travelers
The waterfalls were even more impressive in person. The boat ride from Skradin was the highlight—so peaceful. Our guide from the Viator partner tour was incredibly knowledgeable about Tesla and the old power plant.
We booked the wine tasting option and it was worth every penny. The local cheese was amazing. The bus was clean and the AC was a lifesaver in the Croatian heat.
Go as early as you can! It gets very busy at Skradinski Buk, but the wooden paths are lovely. Just a heads up, you can't swim at the falls anymore, but the stop in Skradin allowed for a quick dip in the river.
For $32, this was the best deal we found in Split. Easy meeting point near the Riva and the guide was funny and helpful. Highly recommend the boat cruise.
We did the private Mercedes tour for our family of four. Having the flexibility to stop in Trogir on the way back made the day so much more relaxing. Our driver was a local and knew the best photo spots.
A great break from the stone streets of Split. The ethno-village shows how people lived years ago. Wear comfortable walking shoes—there are more steps than you think!
The combination of nature and culture was perfect. The wine tasting at the end of the day was the best way to relax before the drive back to Split.
Booking was seamless. Got the ticket on my phone instantly. The park is a masterpiece of nature. Don't skip the walk all the way to the top of the falls!
Everything you need to know for your journey
The drive from Split to the main Lozovac entrance of Krka National Park takes approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes.
As of 2021, swimming is strictly prohibited at Skradinski Buk to preserve the travertine barriers. However, most tours stop in the nearby town of Skradin where you can swim in the river.
In most cases, no. Tours usually list entrance fees as a separate cash payment to the guide so they can use the group discount line, saving you time. Always check your specific tour's 'exclusions' section.
Spring (May-June) and Autumn (September-October) offer the best balance of high water flow and manageable crowds. Summer is beautiful but can be very hot and busy.
The main circular loop at Skradinski Buk is approximately 1.9 kilometers (1.2 miles) long and takes about 60-90 minutes at a leisurely pace.
Yes, children love the boat rides and the fish visible from the boardwalks. However, be prepared to carry strollers over several sets of stairs.
Bring comfortable walking shoes, a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, and cash for the park entrance fee and lunch.
Many 8-10 hour tours include a 1-hour stop in the historic city of Šibenik to see the UNESCO Cathedral or a stop in the charming town of Primošten.
Yes, there are snack bars and restaurants near the entrance and at the bottom of the falls serving sandwiches, grilled meats, and local pancakes.
The main boardwalk has many stairs, making the full loop difficult for wheelchairs. However, the upper part of the falls is accessible via the Lozovac entrance with some assistance.
Krka is smaller and more interactive, featuring boat rides and historic watermills. Plitvice is much larger with more lakes but is further from Split (3+ hours).
Most standard tours include the scenic 20-minute boat ride between the Skradinski Buk waterfall and the town of Skradin.
